Eiichi Ikegami

Eiichi Ikegami (池上 永一, Ikegami Eiichi, born May 24, 1970) is a Japanese novelist from Okinawa Prefecture. His real name is Shinya Matayoshi (又吉 真也, Matayoshi Shin'ya). Born in Naha City, he grew up on Ishigaki Island from the age of three until he graduated from junior high school. He graduated from Okinawa Prefectural Kaiho High School and dropped out of the Department of Human Health Sciences, Faculty of Human Sciences, Waseda University. In 1994, while attending Waseda University, he began his career after winning the 6th Japan Fantastic Novel Prize for his work "Bagājimanupanasu." In 1998, his novel "Kajimayā" was nominated for the 118th Naoki Prize. She also writes science fiction fantasy, including "Lequios" (Japanese: レキオス, rekiosu) and "Shangri-La." In 2017, she won the 8th Yamada Futaro Prize for "History" (Japanese: ヒストリア, hisutoria).
