Morganna Love
From an early age, Morganna discovered two things: her artistic vocation and her gender identity. When she was only four years old, she started singing and was a soloist in the school's nuns' choir. According to her own words, one day she woke up and felt her feminine identity living inside her body. She began to put on makeup and emulate female TV stars. This of course, caused a shock in her family and she faced rejection. She first defined herself as a gay boy, despite knowing that deep down she was a woman. She began her musical training at the School of Music of the University of Guanajuato. In 2001 she decided to emigrate to Mexico City to continue her musical training at the National Conservatory of Music. Eventually, she began to collaborate with an opera company. There she decided to define her identity and began her transition process, which lasted four years without any family support. After a process of hormonal and psychological therapy, in 2012 she decided to undergo sex reassignment surgery in Thailand. There, thanks to her participation in a trans beauty contest entitled Miss International Queen, she learned of the existence of the prestigious surgeon Preecha Triewtanon, one of the great world eminences of sex reassignment surgeries. It was he who gifted her the surgery. Her operation was performed by surgeon Burin Wangjiraniran of the PAI (Preecha Aesthetic Institute) clinic and brought Morganna closer to the ideal life she was seeking. Interestingly, her transition as a woman was a crucial part of her professional recognition. Morganna's transition was captured by filmmaker Flavio Florencio in a documentary entitled Made in Bangkok. The documentary was released worldwide in 2017 and achieved several recognitions, including an Ariel Award nomination from the Mexican Film Academy for Best Documentary Feature. The success of the documentary brought Morganna the spotlight. She intervened as an actress in the series Crónica de castas (2014) and in the short film Oasis (2017), by Alejandro Zuno. Her most important challenge, was the release of her first album titled Dos vidas en una (2017), where she shows her prodigious voice in a combination of genres ranging, from opera arias, to pop ballads. In 2018, Morganna participated in the reality show The Voice, in its Mexican edition, making it all the way to the semifinals on Anitta's team. In 2017, Morganna also published her autobiographical book entitled In the Right Body. At the same time, Morganna continues to perform in different venues around the world. In 2018, Morganna lent her voice to the character of Blanca Evangelista in the Latin American dub of the Fox Premium series Pose. In 2020, Morganna participates in the film 10 Songs for Charity, a Dutch production directed by Karin Junger. Her activism for the respect and visibility of trans women in society, made that, in 2020, Love was recognized by Forbes as one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico. Morganna also serves as an activist for the United Nations. In 2021, Morganna participates in the HBO series Maid.
