Vlasta Lah

Vlasta Giulia Lah Rocchi (January 13, 1913, Pola, province of Trieste, Austria-Hungary - July 12, 1978, City of Buenos Aires, Argentina), was the first woman to direct a sound feature film in Argentina. In addition, she was the only female filmmaker in Latin America during the 1960s. Vlasta Lah trained in cinematography, along with his sister Neva Lah, at the film school of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Italy). After arriving in Buenos Aires in 1938, she worked for the production company Estudios San Miguel and began as an assistant director in the 1940s. Between September 1953 and until the Liberation Revolution, he directed the Superior School of Cinematographic Art. In 1960 Vlasta Lah made her feature film directorial debut with The Furies. Vlasta died on July 12, 1978 in the City of Buenos Aires.
